The Prince of Wales is scheduled to attend the United Nations climate conference in Brazil in the coming weeks, as confirmed by palace sources.

Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a event preceding the environmental conference, which is scheduled to take place in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.

Father and son were present at the museum gathering, marking an unusual joint appearance at a environmental conference preliminary meeting organized in partnership with the British authorities.

Climate Leadership Commitment

King Charles has been a longstanding advocate of protecting nature - and the Prince of Wales has assumed the responsibility, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be hosted in Rio ahead of the COP summit.

Royal sources have characterized the Prince's participation at the forthcoming conference as stepping up an crucial position in "climate diplomacy".

Recent Engagements

The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the state Bentley, were introduced to attendees such as environmentalists, researchers, climate change campaigners, foreign representatives and government officials.

This participation included speaking together with French leader Macron of the French Republic and other world leaders at the Marine Economy Conference in the Principality of Monaco in recent months.

Environmental Prize Connection

The COP30 summit will align with the prince's own climate innovation prizes, which will wrap up in Rio de Janeiro the previous day he joins the COP summit on 6 November.
