Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Is Here, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo alongside Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.

The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will propel Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Beloved Titles

Similar to the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.

But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow

The feature will welcome back of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

A Significant Period for Mario

The new Mario movie is planned to debut close to the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his friends.

The company has three new games publicly declared for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
